I was named the 2013 NAHJ Student of the Year.

“It might sound cheesy but I couldn’t ask for a better ending of my student journalist career. It’s also a great starting point for who I would be in couple of months: a young professional,” Chavez said. 

The awards ceremony took place on October 10th as part of the NAHJ Region 6 Conference in Chicago, IL.
